Zoë - Lightning

From 1991, this was the 2nd single released by Zoë, taken from the album "Scarlet, Red and Blue". The track was the follow-up to the top ten hit "Sunshine On A Rainy Day" (a remix of which appeared as the b-side to "Lightning") but couldn't match its success and peaked at #37 in the UK charts in November of that year. A 3rd single "Holy Days" was released in 1992, but only managed to reach #72 in the UK charts.

In 1996, Zoë re-emerged with a totally revamped image, style and sound. Her new album, "Hammer" was released to rave reviews in the UK. The title track was released as a single, but failed to even reach the top 75.

TRACKLISTING:

Lightning (7" Edit)
Lightning (12" Edit)
Sunshine On A Rainy Day (Acappella)

I've always liked this better than "Sunshine..." I can't believe there was a 12" version... Thank you very much. I think people like you make this a much better world! ;)

This is a classic pop track by Zoe. 'Lightning' spent three weeks in the UK Top 40, a respectable achievement certainly, even if it didn't slam into the Top 10, as 'Sunshine On A Rainy Day' did. I love the single 'Holy Days', a funky, downtempo track. The 7'' version is different from the LP version. Incidentally, I couldn't recommend the 'Scarlet Red & Blue'' album enough. It is sensational. I love the title track; very mellow and dreamy. Also, 'Moonsister' is first-rate ambient dance. Highly recommended.
